چکیده

This paper presents an error resilient H.263 video compression system over noisy channels. We develop a video segment regulation algorithm at the decoder to efficiently identify and correct erroneous start codes and block addresses. In addition, a parity-embedded error detection technique is also implemented to enhance the error detection capability of the decoder at the macroblock4ayer. After performing above two approaches, the decoder can report the accurate addresses of detected corrupt blocks back to the encoder via a feedback channel. With these negative acknowledgments, the precise error tracking algorithm is developed at the encoder to precisely calculate and trace the propagated errors for INTRA refreshing the contaminated blocks. Simulation results show that the proposed system yields significant video quality improvements over the motion compensated concealment by PSNR gains of 4 to 6 dB at bit rate around 32 kbps in error-prone DECT environments. In particular, this system complies with the H.263 standard and has the advantages of low memory requirement and computation complexity that are suitable for practical real-time implementation.

Robust H.263+ Video for Real-Time Internet Applications

Any real-time interactive video coding algorithm used over the Internet needs to be able to cope with packet loss, since the existing error recovery mechanisms are not suitable for real-time data. In this paper, a robust H.263+ video codec suitable for realtime interactive and multicast Internet applications is proposed. Initially, the robustness to packet loss of H.263 video packetised accordi...

Robust H . 263 Compatible Video Transmission over Wireless

A new standard compliant method for robust video transmission is presented adapting eeciently to varying error conditions, e.g., on a wireless channel. We propose a feedback channel between transmitter and receiver carrying acknowledgment information. Reported errors are used in the source coder to stop error propagation by coding severely aaected image regions in INTRA-mode. It is shown that a...

Feedback-Based Error Control for Mobile Video Transmission

We review feedback-based low bit-rate video coding techniques for robust transmission in mobile multimedia networks. For error control on the source coding level, each decoder has to make provisions for error detection, resynchronization, and error concealment, and we review techniques suitable for that purpose. Further, techniques are discussed for intelligent processing of acknowledgment info...
